Our Philosophy

Art Experience is a unique studio environment where we believe art is vital to child development. With backgrounds in fine art, art education, and psychology, we tailor our approach to each student’s unique needs.

Our philosophy focuses on the creative process, not just the final piece. In our classes, students are taught to explore, experiment, and build confidence in their own ideas.

Beyond just technique, art teaches students how to make choices, and express themselves. We aim to cultivate not only artistic skill, but a strong sense of self and creative perspective.

In our classes, students:

  • Improve their visual perception and awareness

  • Exercise each powers of observation and imagination

  • Develop their motivation to learn

  • Learn to make confident choices

  • Have FUN!

We assess each student using the CA State Board of Education visual art standards, then place them at the appropriate level to support their growth. Our approach ensures clear learning goals and measurable progress.

Our Team

Lee-Jean Lin, Founder, Art Director

Lee-Jean Lin is the founder of Art Experience, where she has spent over 20 years helping children build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills through art. Her teaching goes beyond traditional instruction; she guides students through a structured creative process that empowers them to think independently and express themselves with confidence.

A trusted and in-demand teaching artist, Lee-Jean regularly presents her projects at parent (docent) workshops through programs such as “Art at Your Fingertip,” “Torrance Adventures in Art,” and “South Bay Hands on Art,” benefiting over 40,000 children across the South Bay.

With a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Systems Engineering, Lee-Jean brings a uniquely structured approach to art education. Her lesson plans are rooted in the engineering design process, helping students of all ages succeed step by step. Combined with her experience as a corporate designer and background in child development, she creates an inclusive, supportive environment where every child can thrive. Her impact extends beyond the classroom, as her own children have gone on to careers in the creative and entertainment industries.

Lee-Jean’s work has been recognized with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Congressman Ted Lieu and an award from the South Bay Chinese Women Association for her contributions to art education and community service.
